Shampoo

January 24, 2009

The other day I was looking through some reviews of our products on the internet and thankfully they were mostly praiseworthy, but I came across one worrying review where the client had bought a bottle of our shampoo and said they were’nt over enamoured with the perfume.

Which got me thinking again that as consumers we are fooled sometimes by the falseness of the consistency or the fragrance. We in our products only use natural essential oils which give the products a natural smell of lemons or oranges but more than that we don’t put unnecessary foamers into the formulation which the mass manufacturers do.

They cram the bottle full of chemicals to give you the consumer  lots of lather and a gorgeous smell but are these products doing your hair and scalp any good. With the increase in hair loss and thinning hair I would have to say not.

It is frankly unnecessary. I believe that if you have a product which gently cleanses the hair without drying it out with a natural antiseptic such as essential oil, you cut down the risk of hypo-allergenic response and you have a more “natural” product.

Is this why the big companies are always bringing out new shampoos. Surely if they were confident about them they wouldn’t need to. I have made mine the same way for over 30 years. Need I say more?

Thinning Hair or Alopecia

January 7, 2009

Hi Everybody.

I see a lot of women at the supermarkets and even just walking down the street with thin hair or alopecia and we get a lot at our clinics too.

The thing they tell me time and time again is that they have been to the Dr and he has said it is male pattern baldness without doing a hormone check and that nothing can been done. So what they are actually saying is that that woman has increased levels of testosterone and androgen making them more male than female. Come on the hair is a barometer and indicates how the body is feeling at that time. You know when you get the flu or it is that time of the month your hair goes lank and is not so responsive. So when the client is under a certain degree of stress her hair falls. I have treated hundreds of patients with this condition with great success and explained what they need to do to get their hair back to full condition. It takes time but anything worthwhile takes time. Look at losing weight for instance. It takes time!  Well, I just thought I should let you know that you don’t have to put up with thin hair. And as to those Dr’s who say nothing can be done, well…………….

Til the next one.

Resveratol

January 3, 2009

Hello everyone and a happy new year to you.

I was thinking the other day about what happens to the hair when it goes grey overnight.

The colour does not wash out of the hair. It has no way of leeching out but all the melanine suddenly is lost, usually after some severe trauma. I have heard that some research has been done in the USA by digesting a vitamin called resveratol. Its derivative is from red wine. A glass contains about .65mg of resveratrol which is interesting.

Well I am pleased to say I have laid my hands on some and tend to start research in the near future.

If anybody has any ideas about resveratol, obviously I would love to hear from them.

In the meantime, have a wonderful new year.
